Tejpal Randhawa

Tejpal is a first-year undergraduate student from Bethlehem, PA. She plans to study computer science and chemistry with an interest in solving environmental issues. During her free time, Tejpal enjoys hiking, watching TV, and trying new restaurants.

Rebecca Brown

Rebecca Brown is an engineering undergraduate student from Stafford, Virginia. She is majoring in chemical engineering and pursues her interests in clean energy applications. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys going bouldering, running, and spending time with friends.

Perrin Godbold

Perrin grew up in Stanardsville VA, just north of Charlottesville. He attended James Madison University for his undergraduate education, where he did work on a diverse array of topics including ionic liquids, photocatalytic coatings, and even beer. He currently resides in Harrisonburg with his wife and son. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, music, and basketball.

Nanodays 2018

Members of the Zhang Lab participated in UVA Nanodays 2018 explaining the how the morphology of nanomaterials affect their interactions with light to the interested public.

Dem Santiago

Dem Ele III Santiago grew up in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, United States. From a young age he was good at math and science and those skill helped him participate in many competitions from both fields. At grade 11 he had the opportunity to go to an engineering camp which opened his path to take college credits at grade 12, but also defined his path as a future engineer. Currently, he is working at the University of Virginia under the Zhang group on a summer internship.

Mischa Ellison

Mischa was born in Texas and grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is a second year Chemistry major at Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating, she is interested in pursuing public health or continuing in the field of Chemistry. Outside of academics she enjoys running, playing cello, and astrology.

Jessica Kamienski

May 20, 2018 -- Grayson Johnson

Jess Kamienski is from Loudoun Country, Virginia. She grew up hiking, biking and running through the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Jess is a fourth year chemical engineering student whose research interests include developing efficient catalysts for CO2 conversion. She hopes to one day design cost effective green energy systems for developing areas. Outside of lab, Jess likes climbing, playing soccer, and painting.
