Andrew is a second-year undergraduate student from Arlington, VA pursuing a double major in Chemistry (B.S. with a concentration in Biochemistry) and Religious Studies. He enjoys exercising, petting his dog, and doing crossword puzzles in his free time.

The challenge of producing renewable fuel and chemical sources for a clean energy future has drawn the focus of researchers around the world. In recent years, a young faculty member in UVA’s College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences has drawn attention and acclaim for the innovative efforts of his lab in this critical area of research and enriched the experience of his chemistry students.

UVA College of Art and Science highlighted our recent work in Nature Synthesis

In 2021, the manufacturing sector of the U.S. economy accounted for over a quarter of the country’s total energy consumption, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, and over 80% of that energy is still produced by fossil fuels that are contributing to a global climate-change crisis. Consequently, the Department of Energy has identified innovations in precise and scalable manufacturing as a technological priority.

Pallab Chandra Saha

Pallab was born in Bangladesh. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry from “Shahjalal University of Science and Technology”, Bangladesh. After that he joined his alma mater as a Lecturer in 2018, after 2 years he was promoted to Assistant Professor and worked there for another 3 years. He enjoys listening to music and watching movies in his free time.  

Ally Phillips

Ally is a first-year student from Richmond, VA who plans to double major in neuroscience and biochemistry. She hopes to attend medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon. In her free time, Ally enjoys running, playing violin, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family.

Zhanrong Guo

Zhanrong is a second-year student from Zhejiang, China. He is pursuing an ACS certified B.S. in Chemistry with a specialization in Materials Science. In his free time, he enjoys reading and coding.

Carolyn Imbrogulio

Carolyn Imbrogulio is a second year student from Seattle, Washington and Taipei, Taiwan. She is pursuing an ACS certified B.S. in Chemistry with a specialization in Biochemistry. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, cooking, hanging out with friends, trying new foods, and being outdoors. 

Riddhi Dixit

Riddhi is a first year Chemistry student from Chesapeake, VA. She is pursuing a B.A. in Chemistry with a biochemistry concentration. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, hiking, painting, and watching Jeopardy.
