Perrin grew up in Stanardsville VA, just north of Charlottesville. He attended James Madison University for his undergraduate education, where he did work on a diverse array of topics including ionic liquids, photocatalytic coatings, and even beer. He currently resides in Harrisonburg with his wife and son. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, music, and basketball.
Jess Kamienski is from Loudoun Country, Virginia. She grew up hiking, biking and running through the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Jess is a fourth year chemical engineering student whose research interests include developing efficient catalysts for CO2 conversion. She hopes to one day design cost effective green energy systems for developing areas. Outside of lab, Jess likes climbing, playing soccer, and painting.
My name is Alex Khlopenkov and I am third-year undergraduate student at the University of Virginia majoring in chemistry. My interest lies in particular in research seeking to find efficient alternatives to fossil fuels to combat climate change. I feel that the younger generation of scientists and researchers, including myself, will likely play a major part in finding a solution to this problem. I also have an interest in foreign languages.
Bingkai grew up in Shandong China and received his B.E. at University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2013. Then he came to Lanzhou University to proceed the graduate research in Inorganic Chemistry. In 2017, he joined the Zhang’s group for PhD joint training with China Scholarship Council (CSC) fund. Currently his research focuses on controlled synthesis of nanomaterials catalysts for oxygen reduction, CO2 reduction, water splitting and natural gas utilization. Outside lab, Bingkai enjoys movies and food.
